Planning is a good thing. Growing up my dad always taught me to measure twice and cut once. Taking time to plan and determine the outcomes you want, greatly enhances the chances you will get the results you are looking for.
I am constantly amazed at the lip service that is given to planning. Most people are caught in a “routine rut”. They just do the same things over and over and expect different results. Last I heard that was the definition of insanity. If you are not getting the results you want, you must change your approach.
Planning allows us to get it down on paper before we begin. Stephen Covey in the book Seven Habits of Highly Effective People stated that one of the habits was to begin with the end in mind. That is what planning is all about. Beginning with the desired result in mind before you start.
Planning will save you time and money. By figuring it out before you begin, you can avoid many costly mistakes and missteps.
Take time to plan. Get into a rhythm or cycle of planning so that as you allocate your time daily, it is focused on the result you want. That time invested in planning will save you in the long run.
